Linux hosting on godaddy.com. Manual setup not working.

Postby m0se5 » Thu Sep 27, 2007 5:00 am

I've done a manual install of OrangeHRM 2.2.0.3 to a linux shared host with godaddy.com using this post as a guide. ( http://orangehrm.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=20 )

When I visit domain.com/orangehrm/ it forwards me to domain.com/orangehrm/login.php and I get this error message.
Code: Select all
Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or '}' in /home/content/g/p/i/domain.com/html/orangehrm/lib/dao/SQLQBuilder.php on line 1100

Install on GoDaddy Shared Hosting

Postby mixotic » Fri Feb 08, 2008 10:29 pm

I had some problems getting through the install as well...there ar ea few small things you need to do in order to get up and running on GoDaddy, primarily because the installer script wants to create the database. With GoDaddy, you need to manually create the database before you can run a script, but this returns an error (DB Already Exists) in the HRM installer. Here's the solution...

1. Create a MySQL 4.1 DB in your hosting control panel. I recommend this, as their 5.0 DBs don't have InnoDB enabled (I think) which produces another error later in the installer.

2. Enter the credential into the file /installer/lib/confs/Conf.php-distribution and rename the file to 'Conf.php' (all of this is covered in the post you referenced above).

3. Open the file /dbscript/dbscript.sql in a text editor and remove the first line 'SHOW INNODB STATUS;'. Leave everything else and save the file.

4. Go into phpmysqlAdmin on GoDaddy and log in to your database. Click the Import link and then Browse to the dbscript.sql file you just edited. Once you've selected the file, click Go and MySQL should create the DB tables, etc.

5. Navigate to the installation front end (like a regular user) and log in with the user: demo and pass:demo.

From there you should be able to start setting things up, creating accounts, etc.

I am still looking for post-install cleanup procedures. Should we remove the Installer directory? Change permissions on any files? That kind of info would be helpful...

post-install cleanup procedures

Postby nilufer » Thu Aug 14, 2008 9:54 pm

Hi mixotic,

Thanks for info regarding godaddy.
You don't need to remove the installer directory.
But doing so would not harm in anyway except you use the web installer again.
Regarding the permissions, OrangeHRM directory should be set with following permissions.
Owner should be web-user.
For redhat based systems it would be apache but for debian based systems it would be www-data by default.
So following command work fine.
Code: Select all
sh$chown -R apache.apache path-to-orangedir
or
sh$chown -R www-data.www-data path-to-orangedir

Check the lines in the httpd.conf file for the correct user for httpd.
Code: Select all
User apache
Group apache

The permissions would be all.
Code: Select all
chmod -R 700 path-to-orangedir
for restrictive permission or
chmod -R 755 path-to-orangedir
for less restrictive permission.

This is because when orangehrm sends mails related to leave or any other related functionality, it needs to write to mail-notifications log file.
Failing to write ends up with error pages stating permission problems.

username and password for manual installation

Postby shashimalw » Wed Dec 31, 2008 10:24 am

Hi geeknet,

Could you please check the hs_hr_users table and verify the default user is "demo" ?
because manual installation default user is "demo" and password also demo.

If not change the the user name and password as demo in hs_hr_users table as follows.

user_name= demo
user_password =fe01ce2a7fbac8fafaed7c982a04e229

fe01ce2a7fbac8fafaed7c982a04e229 is the hash value for password. Please put this in user_password filed.

Regards

Hey, if you guys are interested in buying ccTLDs or gTLD, here's a really good service which provides a huge database of registered or expired domains. There are many options - you can browse domains according to country, or ones linked to wikipedia, or with alexa rank, or domains with keyword... Check them out:) https://alldomainsdb.com/
