Personalization

We are evaluating OrangeHRM for use. However we have a concern with our ability to personalize in a way that will not bode ill for future upgrades. These personalizations are way too simple to be considered customization. I actually had thought they would somehow be configurable.

Some of the things we have been asked to do include:
- adding additional values for the marital status option and several other similar fields
- changing birthdate to disallow future-dating
- removing OrangeHRM from emails

And several others. I have figured out how to do some of these things in the code, but am struggling with how to do them so that if and when we choose to go to a future release we can do so in a structured and fairly seamless way that will not require us to manually make all the changes again.

If you can point me to either documentation or any form that addresses this issue, I would be grateful. In addition, given that thesis open source. (and I am new to that too), how would one participate in or contribute to the development process?

No help or guidance on this one? Nobody has similar issues with a new OrangeHRM setup?
